After some lovely hotels on our Sri Lankan tour this was a little bit of a let down. It has apparently had money spent on it and from what we could make out it was spent on the reception area and common rooms. The rooms themselves were of very average quality. Our first room had wallpaper that appeared to have seen stained all over for a significant period of time. The room doors were very ordinary and showing their age. My wife wiped the cloths rack used to dry clothes and the cloth was so dirty it was beyond belief. The alternative room was a little better and we decided to make the best of things. The restaurant was of a reasonable quality given that it was the international buffet variety. The staff were the main asset of this hotel. They went out of their way to be helpful and the concierge was excellent. Be aware the tuck tuck fixer on the door is open to significant negotiation. He offered us one journey at 7,000 rupees but when challenged dropped it to 5,000 and even this was on the high side. There are a lot of hotels in this area. This one is OK but they are going to have to buck up their ideas and spend some money on the rooms if they are going to compete.
